About the Society
The Sussex Postal History Society was inaugurated in March 1991.
The Society is affiliated to the Association of Sussex Philatelic Societies (ASPS)
and also affiliated to the Association of British Philatelic Societies (ABPS).

According to FIP (the international Federation of Philately) Postal History is the study of used covers and letters, used postal stationery, used postage stamps and other postal documents selected to show the development or operation of one or more postal services; the practical application of postal rates, rules and regulations. The Sussex Postal History Society is dedicated to applying this study to the historic county of Sussex in England.

The Society hold regular meetings six time a year, at which members get together to view and discuss a display of items relevant to Sussex postal services from the beginnings of the General Post to the current day. The display may be presented by members of the society or by an invited speaker.
