Sussex Postal History Society​
Photos from November 2025 Meeting

The meeting on 12th November 2925 had displays by three members of the society:
Josh Spoor showed us "Jack's Journey to Aviation Fame";;
David Start entertained us with "Sussex by the sea"
a journey along the coast of West and East Sussex and
Philip Kaye told us "Tales of the unexpected" about an
Old Wealden Village (Mayfield) from 1730 to 2025.

Below are a few images of items shown at this meeting,
Jack Alcock made the first flight across the North Atlantic in a heavier than air craft. This is a letter he carried with him on that flight.


A post card sent from Mount Everest in 1924 addressed to Horsted Keynes, Sussex

Queen Adelaide, widow of William IV spent her last summer in Worthing. We were shown an envelope she addressed to Countess of Sheffield (of Sheffield Park) which has a WORTHING CDS on the reverse.

A family photo from 1890 taken in front of a tailors shop, which premises became the Mayfield Post Office in 1956.
